It takes a village to raise a theatre... or something like that. That's why we're so grateful for every contribution that we receive. Please know that your support means the world to us and goes directly back into the work we're doing to create quality, professional theatre in downtown Sydney. Every dollar we receive means more that we can put into lights, costumes, scenery, and into the pockets of Cape Breton artists.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!

In the past year we made history. We became the first Professional Community-Funded Theatre in Canada.

We were noticed by the New York Times, the Globe & Mail, and put Cape Breton theatre on the map across the whole world. The Globe & Mail even named us one of their Canadian Arts Heroes of 2020. And it was all thanks to you.

In year one, we provided tickets to all 12 of our Mainstage Productions to anyone and everyone… free of charge. We gave out 100 scholarships to youth in need for arts education. We commissioned and produced "Samqwan", one of the first Mi'kmaq led theatrical productions at a professional theatre. We founded the Rita Joe Playwriting Award. We survived. And then some.

It’s a radical proposal, but we've proven its possible.

Help us prove it again.

We are asking you to commit to a monthly donation at whatever level you are comfortable with: $5 a month, $25 a month, $100… no donation is too big or too small.

You'll be paying less than you would already pay for full-price tickets, plus you'll get a tax-deductible receipt. More importantly, you'll ensure the survival of the HAT as we ease our way out of COVID and into a radically accessible future.

Embrace the unprecedented and help us continue to make history.

Every dollar we receive means more that we can put into lights, costumes, scenery, and into the pockets of Cape Breton artists.

For the past three years, we've seen hundreds of young performers come through our door and - thanks to Radical Access - we've been able to give out 100 scholarships per year to ensure talented young people who couldn't otherwise afford our classes are not limited by financial barriers. With your help, we can continue this work and continue to usher in the next generation of Cape Breton talent.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!
