Cape Breton native, Dan MacDonald, celebrates the release of his new album "RURAL/URBAN" with a return visit home!

From Dan:

I'm overjoyed to announce that following the big success of the Toronto launch of my first solo CD, Rural/Urban I've decided to launch the record again, but this time in Cape Breton at the Highland Arts Theatre in Sydney.

I am bringing with me some of Canada's finest traditional musicians all the way from Toronto (Brian Taheny, Ross Griffiths, Njacko Backo) to team up with some of the finest musicians Cape Breton has to offer (Mac Morin and Shawn MacDonald, Eddy Wordsworth) to make this special night come alive once more.

This show is the culmination of 15 years of collaborating, mentoring and performing in this incredible, diverse city and one exciting year of dedication to this record. Don't miss this opportunity to join me and my musical guests on this incredible night.

"There's so much to like here but the closing cut, a pair of airs played by Dan, Shawn and Martin, shows all the passion that went into this recording." - Dan MacDonald, Cape Breton Post

"The urban style takes from the Irish tradition, while rural audiences still expect to hear the old Scots strathspeys and reels. Dan MacDonald is a master of both." - Alex Monaghan, FolkWorld

"It's safe to say that whether you catch him at home playing fiddle with his family or leading a session with people from diverse backgrounds at an urban venue, you'll not be disappointed." -Tim Readman, Penguin Eggs
