About: Ryan Cook & Sunny Acres are a five-piece eclectic Country/Western & Swing ensemble that blends jazz, hillbilly, & folk with home-brewed Canadian ballads. The band features Cook centre-stage on acoustic guitar in his familiar thumb-picking fashion along with Barry Seymour (drums), Dave Campbell (pedal steel), Jill Chambers (upright bass) and Phil Sedore (lead guitar). Their 2019 concerts include songs from Cook’s award-winning albums, most recently Having A Great Time (2018 Music Nova Scotia Country Recording of the Year), plus a special medley to Buck Owens & The Bakersfield Sound.

Owens created the “Bakersfield Sound”, a distinct flavour of country music that opposed the “Nashville sound” which charted 21 #1 hits on Billboard charts between 1963-1988. In this show you’ll hear the familiar songs of Buck’s catalog like “A Tiger by the Tail”, “Waitin in your Welfare Line”, “Together Again”, and collaborations/cover songs Buck worked into his shows of artists like Simon & Garfunkel, Ringo Starr, The Band, and Dwight Yoakam. It's a show that you will not want to miss!
