Acting for Seniors Class with Ron Jenkins

Award-winning director/actor/playwright Ron Jenkins offers a 8-week acting intensive for performers over the age of 60 at The HAT. Learn how to build a character from the ground up. From the page to the stage, Ron Jenkins takes intermediate actors through a series of exercises, games, and prep work as you work through the process of building a character for the stage. It’ll be fun and challenging, and stage experience is recommended, though not manditory. Participants must be 60 years of age or older.

This exciting new session starts January 20th and runs for 8 consecutive weeks. Limited availability, so book right away!

Ron Jenkins is a Sydney-based director and playwright, who regularly works all over the country. Past directing work at the Highland Arts Theatre includes Next to Normal (3-time Merritt Nominated), The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (1-time Merritt Nominated), The Glace Bay Miners' Museum, The Happy Prince, Mary’s Wedding, Extinction Song, and Sucker (also Merritt Nominated).

Ron has won ten Sterling Awards as a director and playwright and two Betty Mitchell Awards for Direction for The Black Rider and Playing With Fire. Last year he was honored with a CCA award in Ottawa for his direction of ENRON. Ron is also the winner of the 2004 Syncrude Award for Artistic Innovation and a Critter Award Winner for Playing With Fire. Ron was shortlisted for the 2007 and 2010 Siminovitch Prize in theatre for Direction.
