× Improvisation for Adults

Ever wish you could be on Who's Line is it Anyway? This class might be for you!

Take your first steps on the stage. Beginner adult actors are encouraged to try this 10-week course and get their feet wet while having fun. Acclaimed performer, Alex Porier, will lead you through a series of exercises, theatre games, and prep work as you work through through the process of the basics of improvization. It’ll be fun, low-pressure, and will hopefully get you out of your comfort zone. No experience necessary! Participants must be 16 years of age or older.

Classes for Improv for Adults will run on Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00PM starting January 16th, 2020 and running for 10 consecutive weeks.

If necessary, a storm day make-up class will be scheduled during regular class time the week of March 23rd.

Registration is accepted on a "first come, first served" pending payment of Registration Fee.

Registration Fee: $120

Limited registration! Sign up today to avoid disappointment. First come, first serve.

Alex Poirier has been performing since the 7th grade, when he was cast as an anthropomorphic adjective in a school play about French grammar. Since then he has performed in a variety of theatrical and improvisational productions across Canada and Europe, including at Yuk Yuk's Stand-up Comedy locations in Ontario and the East Coast and the famed Buddies in Bad Times Theatre in Toronto, Ontario. His television and online work includes featured roles in spots for TSN, the Nova Scotia Department of Tourism, Capital Records, and Green-Up energy drinks.

His one-man show, Tough Call, premiered at the HAT last summer and returned to the stage for a repeat engagement in November, back by popular demand. Other recent HAT performances include: The Best Brothers, Little Shop of Horrors, West Moon, The Drowsey Chaperone, and The Return of the Cape Breton Liberation Army.
