A 1-week summer intensive in acting, music, and dance with the intent to give young performers a pre-professional theatre experience.
This beginner-level camp is intended for young performers, ages 16 to 18. Participants will rotate between instructors receiving professional education in a variety of triple threat disciplines with an emphasis on skill building.
Over the week, participants will receive professional training from regular HAT collaborators under the supervision of Education Coordinator Rachael Murphy.
Music will be taught by Chuck Homewood (HATCH, Disco Nights, The Drowsy Chaperone), Acting by MacKenzie Sechi (Heart of Steel, See Jane Run), Creative Writing by Wesley J. Colford (The Wakowski Bros, Heart of Steel, Dream), and Theatre Tech will be taught by Kayla Cormier (Resident Technical Director).
Things will be a little different this year with group sizes limited to 10 participants, mandatory social distancing, and an excessive amount of hand-washing, but we've been working around the clock to make sure everyone has exactly what they need to stay safe while having an absolute blast.
We're doing everything possible to ensure the safety of all involved, and we want you to feel secure knowing your child is coming to an environment that places their safety first. As such, if you would like to read our most up-to-date Operational Safety Guide for HATCH 2020 (which has been created by our team based on the recommendations and requirements of Nova Scotia Health and Safety), you can find the entire document at this link: http://www.highlandartstheatre.com/hatch-2020-operations-plan
This course is suggested to young performers who might have just a little theatre experience, or are completely new!
August 10th to 14th from 10:00am to 4:00pm
Registration Fees: $150 plus HST
Limited registration! Sign up today to avoid disappointment. First come, first serve. If the camp you’re interested in is sold out, please email academy@highlandartstheatre.com to be placed on a waitlist.
**All camps are subject to the most current Nova Scotia Health and Safety Guidelines. If current restrictions change to alter our ability to safely conduct any camps, you will be notified immediately and offered alternate dates or a full refund.**
