Event Notes

× A one week Online Summer Intensive in acting, music, and dance with the intent to give young performers a pre-professional theatre experience from the comfort of their own home.

This online camp is intended for young performers, ages 10 to 14. Participants will rotate between instructors receiving professional education in a variety of triple threat disciplines with an emphasis on skill building AND creating a 10-15 minute original musical digital performance which we will record online on the final day to be shared with friends and family.

This camp will be held exclusively online via the free conferencing app "Zoom". An electronic device (computer, tablet, or smart phone) and internet connection is required for participation.

Over 1 week, participants will receive professional training from regular HAT collaborators under the supervision of HAT Education Coordinator Rachael Murphy.

Music will be taught by Chuck Homewood (HATCH, Disco Nights, The Drowsy Chaperone), Acting by MacKenzie Sechi (Heart of Steel, See Jane Run), Creative Writing by Wesley J. Colford (The Wakowski Bros, Heart of Steel, Dream), and Theatre Tech will be taught by Kayla Cormier (HAT Resident Technical Director).

This digital, online variation of our beloved HATCH summer camps is designed specifically to provide options for youth and parents who may be wary of participating in person due to outstanding health risks or concerns. If you're more comfortable at home, have been out of the province within two weeks of camps, live too far away to travel, or just prefer the flexability of a digital platform - the Beginner HATCH Online camp is here for you.

We're doing everything possible to ensure the safety of all involved, and we want you to feel secure knowing your child is coming to an environment that places their safety first. As such, if you would like to read our most up-to-date Operational Safety Guide for HATCH 2020 (which has been created by our team based on the recommendations and requirements of Nova Scotia Health and Safety), you can find the entire document at this link: http://www.highlandartstheatre.com/hatch-2020-operations-plan
