High School Production Company

The HAT Academy introduces... High School Production Company.

After 14 sold out performances of Frozen JR in 2021 and the success of Shrek JR, the HAT is excited to announce our Winter 2023 Semester programming to include a special tier designed for grades 9-12 (ages 14-18), focused on preparation for professional production.

Over 10 weeks, participants will receive professional training and creative direction as they prepare for a full production of the beloved hit: Mary Poppins JR.

This production will be directed by HAT Education Director, Rachael Murphy, Music Directed by Ashley Buckingham, Choreographed by Kiersten Penny, and Stage Managed by Sasha Young.

Casting will be split between the High School and JR Divisions of the Winter 2023 Production Company classes (please note, this is a separate stream from the regular Resident Company classes and requires separate registration).

Once a week, participants will meet to rehearse singing, dancing, and acting in preparation for the big show. The program culminates with a one week Intensive during March Break (March 13 to 17) which will include extended daytime rehearsals for Tech and Dress... leading to the Opening Night of Mary Poppins JR on March 22nd.

Participants must be available during March Break. The production will run performances on March 22, 23, 24, 25 and 26 (all participants must be available these dates).

Regular rehearsals will run on Sunday afternoons from 1:00-5:00PM. Because of the abridged nature of the rehearsal scehdule, it is imperitive that participants be available for the vast majority of rehearsals as scheduled as well as the March Break intensive (including daytime rehearsals).

Additional rehearsals will be scheduled for Principal roles as required.

Participation is limited to 15 participants for the High School Division (grades 9-12, ages 14-18). Registration is accepted on a "first come, first served" pending payment of Registration Fee. Once registered, participants are guaranteed a role in the production of Mary Poppins JR. All casting will be based on audition for all confirmed participants, which will be scheduled after registration.

There are some Dance roles available and interested parties with Dance background are highly encouraged to register!

Registration Fees: $215 (+HST) (includes March Break Intensive - more than 65 hours over 10 weeks)
