Beginner Tap Dance with Andrea Vokey

Ready to unleash your inner Fred Astaire?

Brush off your tap shoes with this course designed for people who are tap-curious with no experience necessary. Beginner adult dancers are encouraged to try this 10-week course and get their feet wet while having fun. Tap through the basics with Andrea Vokey and take on one of the most fun and unique dance styles to come out of the 20th century. It’ll be fun, low-pressure, and will hopefully get you out of your comfort zone. No experience necessary, although some previous beginner tap is encouraged. Participants must be 16 years of age or older. Tap shoes recommended (not provided).

Classes for Beginner Tap Dance will run on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 to 8:30PM starting September 20th, 2023 and running for 10 consecutive weeks.

If necessary, a storm day make-up class will be scheduled.

Registration is accepted on a "first come, first served" pending payment of Registration Fee.

Andrea Vokey, started dancing at the age of 2 at Cape Breton School of the Arts, and currently has 27 years of experience in many styles of dance including tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, and musical theatre. Andrea is an ADAPT certified dance teacher, with eleven years of teaching experience with local dance schools and HAT Academy’s programs. Andrea has choreographed shows at the Highland Arts Theatre, Savoy Theatre and Boardmore Theatre. Theatre credits include, Holiday on Christmas Island, and Little Shop of Horrors (HAT), Rocky Horror (Savoy Theatre), and Oliver (Boardmore Theatre). Andrea has performed in shows including Beauty and the Beast, and Grease (Savoy Theatre), and as well as Heart of Steel and Rotary Show (HAT). Andrea is looking forward to sharing her love of dance once again with the students of the HAT Academy.
