Are you a dancer looking for a space to continue dancing with advanced peers outside of the competition space? Then we have just the class for you.

Brush off your dancing shoes with this new course designed for people who have a minimum of 8 years dance experience (though maybe haven’t been dancing regularly for some time). Whether you’ve recently graduated from your dance school or are looking to get back into dance shoes after an extended break, we’re here to get you back on the dance floor and dusting off those grande jettés.

Andrea Vokey leads you through a variety of steps and combinations with something for everyone, with an emphasis on jazz, contemporary, musical theatre, and a variety of other styles. It’ll be challenging, fun, low-pressure, and will hopefully get you back in your comfort zone.

Faculty Bio:

From the age of two, dance has been a constant in Andrea's life. She began her dance training at Cape Breton School of the Arts under the direction of Susan Gallop and was fortunate to continue in a teaching capacity focusing in styles such as tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, and hip hop. Her teaching expanded to include classes with the HAT Academy and various independent opportunities with other local studios. One of her biggest accomplishments was completing her teacher training through the Associated Dance Arts for Professional Teachers (ADAPT) syllabus. This program allowed her to master fundamentals and the technical side of dance teaching. Her number one focus when teaching is to ensure that everyone feels comfortable expressing themselves through movement and has fun. The HAT and specifically the Academy, holds a special place in her heart as it a space where people can discover new skills, gain confidence, and build lasting memories and friendships. Whether you are a familiar face or new to the HAT, she loves learning about every student who passes through the door. Continuing to spread the joy of dance is what she plans to do for many years to come!

WHEN:

Wednesday evenings from 6:15 to 7:30PM

Starting April 24th, 2024 and running for 8 consecutive weeks.

If a class should be cancelled for any reason, a make-up class will be scheduled and emailed out to participants.

Students, parents, and guardians of students are encouraged to follow the academy on instagram @hat.academy for quick updates in the event of weather, special events, and discounts.

AGE FOR ENROLLMENT:

Participants must be 18 years of age or older.

REGISTRATION FEE:

$140.00 (+HST)

Registration is accepted on a "first come, first served" pending payment of Registration Fee.
